Lt. Col. Fred Davidson 67 III, Indianapolis IN

Lieutenant Colonel Fred Davidson III United States Marine Corps, Retired 67, died on June 22, 2009. A native of Ondianapolis, he was a 1959 graduate of Crispus Attucks High School, having served as president of his class. He attended Central State University, Howard University School of Law and received the LHD degree (Honorary) fron the National University of San Diego, CA. He was an associate alumnus of the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD.
Mr. Davidson began his naval career in 1963 in the U.S. Marine Corps Officer's Candidate School in Quantico, VA. He served under three U.S. presidents, John F. Kennedy, Lyndon B. Johnson and Ronald Reagan. Released from active duty in December of 1969, he immediately affiliated with various OMCR Units. He was appointed to the position of Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Navy in 1981, Lt. Col Davidson was recalled to active duty for operation Desert Storm. He was retired from the U.S. Marine Corps in July of 1993.
Mr. Davidson was a life member of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. He was a Master Mason in Waterford Lodge #13, a member of the Constantine Consistory #25 and Persian Temple #46, A.E.A.O.N.M.S. His dedication to the fraternity earned him the nomination and elevation of the thirty-third and last degree of Masonry in the class of 2007 in Philadelphia, PA. Additionally, he was the recipient of numerous awards including the Medal of Honor & Hall of Fame (Montford Point Marine Association), the Roy Wilkins Meritorious Public Service Award (National NAACP) and the Sagamore of the Wabash.
On Tuesday, June 30th, 2009, Visitation will be from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. at Stuart Mortuary Chapel. On Wednesday, July 1, 2009, services will be held at 11 a.m. at Mt Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, 4352 Mitthoeffer Road with interment at Crown Hill Cemetery, Indianapolis.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 40 years, Regenia Bridgeforth Davidson; mother, Frances Lawler Davidson Williams; brother, Donald Davidson; daughters, LaSHavon Barnes and Freddia Smith and granddaughter, Jade Brown.
Memorial contributions may be made to The Crispus Attucks Foundation, 1140 Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. St. Indianapolis, IN. 46202.
