50 YEARS AGO: Theodore Offer and Ruben Bever, 18, both of Marshfield, have left for Milwaukee to be inducted into the Marine Corps and then flown to the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego.

50 YEARS AGO: Pvt. Roland Schaefer of Stratford is on furlough, spending 15 days with his family after having completed four months of training in the Marine Corps at San Diego. He will report to the Motor Transport Battalion on his return to California.

50 YEARS AGO: Donald J. Hager, 18, son of Mrs. Mary Hager, South Central Avenue, was inducted into the Marine Corps at Milwaukee and then he flew to the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, Calif., to begin four years of service.

25 YEARS AGO: U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. Randy Langreck, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Langreck, 10277 Highway A, is participating in "Team Spirit '84," an exercise involving the military forces of the United States and the Republic of Korea. It will be a month-long exercise.

Posted: 50 YEARS AGO: Lance Cpl Ronald R. Machtan, serving in the U.S. Marines, left Dec. 26 for Camp LeJeune, N.C., after spending a 40-day furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Machtan of Marshfield. Machtan had spent 15 months in the Far East prior to his furlough.
