Daniel G. Amenson, 57, Green Bay, WI

Daniel G. Amenson, 56, Green Bay, died Wednesday, March 25, 2009, at a local hospital.

He was born April 24, 1952, in Green Bay, to George and Elizabeth (Challe) Amenson. He graduated from Preble High School in the Class of 1971. After high school, Daniel served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. He returned from service and joined the family business, George Amenson and Sons Distributing. Daniel later worked as a home builder and was last employed by Cruiser Yachts in Oconto, until the time of his illness. He enjoyed attending stockcar races with his brother, Dave, and his racing buddy, Joe, and also watching his nephew, Todd Everard, and the crew race. He loved playing cards and watching football and many other sports on television. Daniel loved country music and attended the Porterfield and Hodag Country Music Festivals with his "Harem."

He is survived by a son; a daughter; his fiance and special friend, Mary Gagnon; his sisters and a brother and their spouses, Mary Muck, Terrie (David) Carter, all of Green Bay; Donna James, Antigo; David (June) Amenson, Green Bay; his stepchildren, Brian Gagnon, Abrams; Bart and Rae Gagnon, Pittsfield; Brent and Sherrie Gagnon, Abrams; Brenda and Neal Leonard, Green Bay; Brad Gagnon and Amy Coopman, Oconto Falls; Vicki Coppens, Suamico; his godsons, Jason Carter, Shaun Muck; his special friends, Germaine and Gerald Everard, Joe Everard, Dan Everard, Cheryl and Randy Everard; his Hodag buddies, Jan Larson, Jackie Kussow, Debbie Frisque, Dianna Ozechowski; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. e was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Paul; and a brother-in-law, Larry Muck.

Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Friends may also call at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 211 N. Maple Ave., from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at the church with the Rev. Andrew Kysely officiating. To send online condolences, please go to

Daniel's family wishes to thank all of the nurses and staff of St. Vincent Hospital and the DaVita Dialysis Center, especially Terri and Sandy, Dr. Neu and Dr. Blohowiak for all of their wonderful care of Daniel.
