Wonderful gift....

This weekend I received a wonderful gift from MGySgt George Hijar, George works with the Parris Island Museum/Historical Society. For those of you that graduated at PI you can appreciate these great coins as I will.

Thanks again George

Your wright,

your's is a much better picture than my scanned picture. Even though their not that expensive it's the thought that counts. I'll have to check and see if San Diego has these same type of coins, I'd like to have one of them as well.

Collecting Challenge Coins with meanings has become popular with many Marines. A boot camp Challenge Coin is something I think all Marines would prize.

Many times,

over the years I've heard of these coins just never seen one before. Until George sent me these four coins I didn't know PI or even SD had theses to purchase.

I'm looking for a frame to out these in, I don't want them scratched by those that will look at them.

Thanks again George, this is one happy Cpl.

The San Diego Museum doesn't seem to have a website for their gift shop. But, the Marine Corps Museum has a San Diego Challenge coin available at:

Thanks for the heads up Jack,

I ordered one of these coins for San Diego which now gives me coins from both training facilities.

Thanks again

As I've said, there is a number of websites that offer Challenge coins and many Marines collect them. In my Marine Corps League detachment, I'm trying to start a practice of giving members that really put forth Challenge coins for their efforts in addition to any other awards they might receive. I think they appreciate them more than a ribbon for their uniform shirt. Especially since many members only have a MCL cap and don't invest in a full uniform.
