Platoon 374

I was assigned to Platoon 374 on Sept. 12, 1963. After graduation I was assigned to Camp Elmore, Norfolk, VA, then to Camp Pendleton to form with the 1st MP Battalion. We shipped to DaNang in June of 1966 and stayed in country until July 1967. 33 days left and not short enough for an early out so I was assigned to Quantico VA rifle range where we maintained the fire arms for the rifle team. Discharged Sept 9, 1967. Since that time I have never been back to the Island until two years ago when my wife and I visited Boot Camp again. To my dismay they were demolishing the brick barracks of the 3rd Bn.
I visited the Parris Island museum and they told me that I could buy a brick from the barracks. I did and have it displayed proudly with my other ribbons and souvenirs from the Marine Corps. Semper Fi Marines
