William Bill Curtis Logan, 90, Clay Center, KS

CLAY CENTER- William Bill Curtis Logan, age 90, passed away May 19, 2009 at Presbyterian Manor, Clay Center, KS. He was born on August 22, 1918, the son of William K. and Nell (Ford) Logan in Clay Center, KS. Bill married Nola Nyberg on October 16, 1943 at LaJolla, California. He was a Corporal in the U.S. Marines with the 4th Division, 24 Marines 1st Battalion and served during WWII in Saipan, Tinian, and Iwo Jima. He owned Logan Furniture until retiring in 1993. He was past president of the Lion's Club, a member of the Masonic Lodge #134, rode the Tin Lizzie in parades and was a member of the Scottish Rite. He served on the Clay Center Planning Commission and served as Mayor of Clay Center from 1971-1979. He served on the Area Agency on Aging, he was past Cubmaster for the Cub Scouts. He was a member of Clay Center United Methodist Church, taught Sunday school, and was a lay leader. He was past president of Clay Center Chamber of Commerce, a member of American Legion Post #3101 for 60 years and V.F.W. Post #3381. Survivors include his wife, Nola Logan, Clay Center, KS; sons, William H. Logan, Seattle, WA, Brian and his wife, Donna Logan, Auburn, KS, Brad and his wife, Lauren Logan of Manhattan, KS, Blair Logan, Clay Center, and Brent Logan, Wakefield, KS; and a daughter, Shari and her husband, Steve Lambrecht, Tecumseh, KS; 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2009 at 10:30 AM at the United Methodist Church in Clay Center, KS. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, Kansas. Visitation will be held from 3-8 PM Friday at the funeral home. Memorials: may be made to the Shriner's Hospital in care of the funeral home. Online condolences can be made at www.nsrfh.com.
