Col Jacques W. "Jack" Carter Jr. USMCR (ret), El Cajon, CA

Jacques W. "Jack" Carter, Jr., passed away on Friday evening, March 13, 2009, at Alvarado Hospital. Jack was born in Lodi, CA on November 19, 1930. A San Diego County resident for 55 years, he was married 45 years to a loving wife, Joan Louise, with whom he resided in El Cajon. "Mr Carter" was an educator in East County for 22 years, retiring as Principal from Cajon Park Elementray School, then going into law enforcement. First as a Park Ranger at Petrified Forest in Arizona for ten years, following as a patrol volunteer with the Santee Sheriff's Department RSVP unit for the last ten years through 2008. He was a Mason, an Eagle scout, and was awarded the Scouts honor of Silver Beaver. Concurrently, he served his country in active and reserve duty with the United States Marine Corps, retiring after 40 years as a full Colonel. During his service, he represented the Marine Corps Toys for Tots program, once being honored by the Navajo Nation with a medal that the USMC gave special dispensation and permission to wear on his military uniform. His civic duty also included working in the Civil Air Patrol (CAP) as a pilot and search coordinator, and occasionally flying medical personnel and supplies into Mexico for Doctors Without Borders. He leaves behind his wife of 45 years, daughters Tracy, Darcy, Kolleen, Kathy and Kristy; sons Kerry, Kevin and Kim; 21 grandhildren and seven great-grandchildren. Viewing on Wednesday, March 18th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Services are Thursday 10:00 a.m., March 19th at El Cajon Mortuary, 684 S. Mollison Avenue at Washington Street, El Cajon, 92020. Burial to follow at Singing Hills Memorial Park, 2800 Dehesa Road, El Cajon.
