Roy Thomas Kristiansen, 89, NV.

Roy Thomas Kristiansen, 89, of the Nevada State Veterans Home passed January 4, 2019. He was born August 1, 1929, at Victory Memorial Hospital in Brooklyn, NY. to Sverre and Solveig Kristiansen. Roy graduated from Fort Hamilton HS and joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1947. After his initial military service, he joined the New York Telephone Co. and continued his education at Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute, before getting recalled to the Marine Corps for the Korean Conflict. Roy married Eve-Ann Langguth September 2, 1950. After his second discharge from the Marine Corps in September 1951, he spent 28 years at NY Telephone Co. During that time, he was an active member of the North-South Skirmish Association commemorating the Civil War in battle reenactments and authentic firearms competition. He wa also a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, the Williamsburg Foundation in Virginia, the Sons of Norway-Vegas Vikings, the Peekskill Revolver Club, the Garrison Fish & Game Club and was a Little League coach. He retired from NY Tel in the late 70's and bought a dairy farm in Whitehall, NY. Twenty years as a successful farmer saw him retire to Henderson, NV. with his second wife, Marianne. Roy was preceded in death by his first wife, Eve-Ann; second wife, Marianne; his brother, Ken; and son, Karl. He is survived by four children, Richard, Matthew, Kathryn and Mark; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Burial will be at 8:40 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11, at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City, NV. 89005. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Alzheimer's Association.
