Early 1950s Enlistment Info

I ran a bit of information today regarding regular and reserve enlistments during the early 1950s.

The 4 year minimum contract for regular enlistment had been dropped to 3 years.

But, if a person didn't want to go regular, they could enlist in the Reserves and "volunteer" for active due for a period in excess of 30 days.

That would seem to explain why some of the Reserves during this timeframe didn't go to boot camp right after enlisting.
