BILLY G. ASBY Sr.
Billy G. Asby, Sr., 83, of Kansas City, Mo., went to be with our Lord on June 1, 2010. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, June 4, at Floral Hills Funeral Home followed by a graveside service at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to North Care Hospice. Billy was born in Red Fork, Okla., on Aug. 17, 1926, to Clifford C. Asby and Jewell Stephens Asby.
Billy was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, 6th Division, from Sept. 20, 1943, serving in World War II and Korea. He received the Purple Heart in Guam in 1944. He was honorably discharged in 1981.
Billy married Mamie J. Frey on Sept. 21, 1946 in Kansas City. Billy was preceded in death by his wife, Mamie J. Asby; his parents; son, Billy Asby, Jr.; and one brother. He leaves behind seven daughters, Terry Shelton of KCMO, Patty Armstrong of Smithville, Mo., Revena Dawson of Charleston, SC, Shirley Rostad, KCMO, Christine Asby, KCMO, Mamie Kuhl, Liberty, Mo., and Brenda Asby, Oklahoma City, Okla.; brother, Basil Asby, Gladstone, Mo.; 12 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.
