Martin S. Schwarz, 88, Kansas City, MO

Martin S. Schwarz, 88, of Kansas City, MO, passed away February 13, 2010 at Kansas City Hospice House. The rosary will be prayed at 6 p.m., Tuesday, at St. Thomas More Church, 11821 Holmes Rd., Kansas City, MO, followed by visitation until 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday, at St. Thomas More Church. Interment will be at Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Kindly omit flowers. The family suggests memorial contributions to Catholic Charities of Kansas City-St. Joseph, 301 E. Armour Blvd., Suite 620, Kansas City, MO 64111. Martin was born May 25, 1921 in Kansas City, MO, to Paul and Lila (Stewart) Schwarz. He was a graduate of Rockhurst High School and Rockhurst College.
Martin served during WWII in the US Marine Corp.
He was a member of St. Thomas More Church. Martin worked as a self-employed accountant for 60 years retiring in 2008. Martin was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette S. Schwarz; and a brother, John A. "Jack" Schwarz. Survivors include his children, Martin Schwarz, Jr. & wife Patricia; Kathleen Ballard and husband Galen; Stephen Schwarz, Joan Schwarz, Jean Hanover and husband Timothy; and David Schwarz and wife Kristin; seven grandchildren; a brother, Paul Schwarz; sisters, Dorothy Williamson and Lila Riscoe. Martin was a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He was devoted to his family and his faith. Those who knew him will remember a humble man who lived his faith and "a gentleman and a gentle man." (Arr.: Muehlebach Funeral Home, 816- 444-2060)
