Marine X-mas Story

Marine X-mas Story

titled "A Letter from Michael" has been read over the Christmas holidays since the mid 1950s apparently as it refers to an incident that allegedly happened during the Korean War... a Marine on a patrol in snowy Korea is joined by a tall Marine while advancing upon an enemy largely unseen by reason of snow squalls.
The young, smaller Marine is hit by gunfire... fellow soldiers behind him come up to give him aid and tell him he was out ahead of his group alone.
They also tell him that five enemy soldiers were killed without guns being used, but a sword, and when he gets to the hospital he writes a letter to his mother for Christmas that completes the story.

I have heard this story on and off over the years, this year on AM Coast to Coast.

Admiration of the Nation We’re the finest ever seen And we glory in the title Of United States Marines.
