You are ribht about the color of cap & trousers. The only ones that wear the Marine uniform besides Corpsmen, are the Navy Aviation personel. Anyone that flies a plane.

We had a few that got sent home. I remember all those big Macho loads of shit trying to do pull ups. The DI's made them humble real quick. And some tears were shed.
