for my brother Marine:
Plt 1044 Graduated 17 Aug, 1977 MCRD San Diego

My fathers:
Plt 168 Graduated in 1962 MCRD San Diego

I'm in search of a San Diego recruit depot grad book for my dad. He commenced Jan 25, 1967 plt 116. My brother and I have been looking for this book for almost 2yrs now. My brother destroyed the book as a child and is now desperately trying to replace it. If anyone has this book or knows where I can get one, please please contact me.

I was in platoon 336 "C" Co, 4th Bn. Graduated on November 24, 1953. I really don't have much hope of finding this one but if I don't ask I will never know. Some jerk borrowed mine and never returned it, yeah, a former Marine.

My brother left bootcamp in SanDiego November 1967 - he went to Vietnam and became a Marine of Golf Company 2nd Battalion 5th Marines. His name is PFC Gerald C. Kinny and he was killed 1-31-68 on Golf 2/5's first day into Hue, Vietnam.

I would love to have a bootcamp book for him if possible. I endeavor to find out as much info about him and his time in Vietnam. So far, I have come into contact with his Marine company, went to Vietnam with the company c.o. who retrieved his body, attended reunions and a memorial put on by the Navy and crew of USS Hue City, acquired two books about the battle that include accounts of my brother's death, and met one of his G2/5 brothers who last saw him alive.

I have been blessed in meeting my brother's Golf 2/5 brothers who have become my "extended family of brothers". :)
