reached out to us and we would be glad to tell them what HELLLL is like. yuk yuk
The funny thing though is no matter what you tell people about boot camp they still won't get the full idea of what they are about to enter into.
Boot camp has such highs and lowers during the 8 or 12 weeks of training. For the first couple of weeks of RUSH RUSH RUSH it's hell on two legs. I guess it's the fifth or sixth week when you learn what it takes to be a Marine and the change starts to kick in.
My boot camp was 12 weeks, about the time we were returning from the rifle range I could see in others AND myself the change taking over. We marched with spirit, phisical training became the norm, and our general atitiude was high spirited to say the least.
Once the change takes over it's like being reborn in a sense. The pride building within is like no drug you could take to get to that place in your head.
I don't know what boot camp is like today, but in my day (1964) most would be heading to war (Viet Nam) and our D.I.'s kicked our asses. And to be honest, I'm glad they were tuff on us because war is hell.
Just my two cents worth folks.....
Carry On Marines!!
