Rib Mountain woman's life changed when she served in Marines during World War II

Ruth Hawks says she joined the U.S. Marines in 1943 partly to please her father.
He was a clerk at a Madison manufacturing company, and when all the other guys gathered around at lunch time, talk naturally flowed to their sons in the military, doing their bit in World War II.
