Recruit Platoon 356, MCRD PI.
We were at Parris Island from September to December 1959. We were set back two weeks in training because of a hurricane pounding the South Carolina coast in early November (one week hunkered down weathering the storm, another week spent cleaning up the debris).
Our first "Birthday" celebration was as recruits; we were on Mess Duty at the time. We gorged ourselves on left over Birthday cake and ice cream in the galley after chow call. :D
