Hi All, I realize this has been asked many times but I was just wondering if any body has found success in finding platoon numbers for relatives. My grandfather graduated from Parris Island April 1946, D.I.s were SSgt Woods and Cpl. Braun. Unfortunately he cannot remeber his platoon number. I've enjoyed all the other great bits of family history that I've found trying to track down the platoon number from the National Archives, so not a totally empty handed but really want that info to track down a plt photo, maybe even a grad book. We both have M-1 Garands and shoot together frequently, I'm hoping something will jog his memory as I have him show me what they taught him at the firing line at P.I.
Thanks for your time!
I spoke with Monique this morning who works in the recruit photo section at Parris Island. She said that if you could determine the month your father graduated from Parris Island, she could put that together with the year and DI names to go search for platoon grad photos for that month/year and DIs.
The number to call is: (843) 228-1555.
Good luck!!

Thanks for the heads up! I just spoke with Monique, first off what great customer service, she went through several months of records because we didn't have an exact match with what my Grandfather told me. She did find something reasonably close to what my Grandfather told me!!! Now just 4-6 weeks wait...Thanks again to all, will send scans!
